Review of Day for Night (1973) by Masorad ( — 01 Dec 2009
The film has some powerhouse moments: the opening tracking, Truffaut's speech about reality vs cinema, Cotese's struggle with her lines. The pacing is nicely hurried, a la on-the-set time constraints and, save for Leaud, the actors all hit their marks.
This is a film about making film, and as any grip or continuity girl will tell you, that process can at times be tedious. Day For Night occasionally can't help but be the same.
