Review of Day for Night (1973) by Dan B — 20 Feb 2011
Truffautâ(TM)s valedictory to the very âcinema du papaâ? that the new wave swept away (with the two effectively superimposed upon each other here), has that mixture of cheek and affection that can really only be expressed by blood relations. Funny, humane and suffused in every frame with the love of cinema.
[And if youâ~ve never seen it, I urge you to catch its current run at the NFT, as it may be the only film about the actual process of shooting a movie that youâ(TM)ll ever need to watch.].
