Review of Day for Night (1973) by Sausages M — 01 Mar 2011
Clever little film about making a film. Surprisingly amusing, if not downright hilarious in parts. So much going on here: the film-making process; stories within the story; comedy; drama, all presented by an enchanting cast, including Truffaut himself.
One suspects there is much of himself in the director character, and that this film about a director trying to make a film wasn't that much of a stretch for him, but he's wonderful nonetheless.
Despite the post-modern plot, it all hangs together very well and the two hours just zips by.
