Just got this on Blu-ray and watched it again. Wow! I liked it a lot in the theater, but maybe because of the noise and the 3D I missed something, because this time it packed an emotional punch that got me right in the gut. Maybe it's because I sometimes identify with animals more than people...
What an amazing performance from "Caesar" and "Koba." Every character, especially the ape characters, have completely believable motivations. How is it that Andy Serkis (Caesar) is so quickly dismissed at Oscar time? That's ACTING coming through the motion capture, people! If Serkis and Toby Kebbell (Koba) don't convince and connect emotionally, the movie cannot stand. But boy does it stand. A tremendous achievement.
