Review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) by Cade H — 21 Feb 2015
The reboot of the Planet of the Apes series started off with a bang and continues with greatness in this second film. Taking place many years after the first one, the planet is wiped out of most of the humans and the apes are all smarter and living together in their own colony.
The film focuses mainly on the apes and really humanizes them to an entire new level. This film was packed with emotion from both the human and animal side and it all fit together fantastically with the rest of the stuff going on around it.
There was plenty of great action along with a brisk pace that rarely ever got boring. I really enjoyed how they spent so much time showing how the apes are so much like the humans and all they both really want is to co-exist together.
The ending was epic and fun and it does leave it open for another film which I hope they decide to do. If you like the first one, you owe it to yourself to check this out.
