Review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) by Erik M — 09 Jan 2015
Apes rule. Caesar and his family of genetically enhanced apes steal the show from humans, and by extension, humanity itself. They are not blameless, or without flaws, and share more with humans than they'd like to admit.
They're just starting out with what we've had for eons: intelligence, and all the good and bad that comes with it. The war has begun, and it's not a matter of who is more worthy, but who is more ready.
This is a fight for survival, and trust does not come easy to either side. The final scene of Caesar and his family in the sun, and Malcolm fading into the shadows encapsulates their ascension, and our doom.
