Review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) by Isaac B — 07 Mar 2015
Looked as if they actually trained an army of apes to ride horses wielding guns and speaking in English... That's how amazing the effects look and how well Andy Serkis' work payed off. This takes the good from Rise and multiplied it by a significant amount.
Apart from some basic acting on the human side, and scenes of repairing Caesar lingering on too long, this was a really epic and exciting film. The final duel at the end of the film exceeded all expectations I had of this movie alone.
It is awesome to see the apes in action and they do pose as a frightening threat. The best thing about this film is how further sets up the trilogy and its sequel even better and makes it feel almost impossible to wait three years to see it.
Each movie does feel like just another piece of the puzzle and when the third film hits theaters in 2017, it will be beyond epic. It is going to be the movie we've been waiting for since seeing the trailers to Rise of the Planet of the Apes and nobody even realizes it.
