Review of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) by Ben T — 17 Jan 2015
Rise of the planet of the apes was one of the best movies of 2011, it had great acting from Andy Serkis and James Franco and some great action. So when dawn of the planet of the apes was announced I couldn't wait.
I've got to say that this film was brilliant. The acting was amazing with Andy Serkis giving a role that rivals his role as Gollum. The cgi as well is amazing, the character designs are brilliant the texture, the look, the way the apes move it all looks flawless.
The action in the film improved on the first with a brilliant end action scene and a outstanding uninterrupted tank shot. It's great to see apes riding horses using machine guns. There is also a fantastic hunting sequence at the start that really was a amazing way to start the film.
I love the way this film is so different from the marketing. The trailer made the film look like avatar, when in actual fact it's quite the opposite. Gary Oldman in fact was completely different from the way the trailers make him look.
Infact he wasn't a dick and was quite a relent able character. Overall Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is one of the best sequels of all time, and that's saying a lot considering how many good sequels there have been this year ( Captain America the Winter Soldier, X-men Days of Future Past).
This film was so good and my number 1 movie of the year. A.
