Review of Dawn of the Dead (2004) by Bugi P — 05 Dec 2011
Fairly strong remake, although it certainly starts better than it ends. Snyder is a gifted cinematographer, and the movie is full of creepy and atmospheric shots. The wide shot at the beginning of her racing down the highway is particularly effective. Most of the acting is good, but there are several plot holes and cases of people doing inexplicable things. Which I know happens in a lot of horror films, but still not really excusable. The other thing that is lame is how long it takes them to figure out how the disease (or whatever you want to call it) is transmitted. Do all zombie movies take place in a universe devoid of Zombie movies/culture?
The epilogue during the credits isn't great either, and really doesn't serve any purpose.
