Review of Dawn of the Dead (2004) by Jonny M — 31 Jul 2013
Zack Snyder's career got off to a promising start with this movie. I'm pretty sure we all have our doubts when a classic movie is going to be remade, but unlike the original Dawn of the Dead, the zombies run which gives the movie more intensity, and this movie comes at you like a rabid dog.
The first 15 minutes of this movie are terrifying, but it slowly loses its steam for a small portion of the movie, then it gets back on track. Another thing too were the TV broadcasts from the movie, which still haunt me to this day, with he whole, "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth" speach.
The rest of the movie wasn't necessarily scary, but the mounting suspense was great. The ending was sorta BS, but the credits left me shaking. So... kudos to Zack Snyder for this effective remake and effective horror film.
