Review of Dawn of the Dead (2004) by Prabhat R — 19 Aug 2011
Besides being a competent remake of the cult classic, this movie also manages to hold its own ground. Armed with relentless and well-timed gore, some intense sequences and having the sense of veering clear of most of the cliches of this genre, the movie manages to be slick and evoke a sense of apocalypse heralded by the flesh-munching, disfigured, with marvelous make-up, I might add, undead.
There are glimpses of Snyder's, now raved, visual brilliance, albeit used sometimes gratuitously in the movie. Overall, a decent fare, certain to be worth your two pennies.
