Review of Dave (1993) by Andrea G — 14 Mar 2011
The ultimate "feel-good" movie! Yes, of course the plot is nonsense, but so are all fairy-tales, and this is a modern American fairy-tale. The great (and gorgeous!) Kevin Kline was pitch perfect, both as the nice-but-kookie Dave and the corrupt-but-attractive Mitchell. Langella, Dunn and Rhames were superb in support, as was Grodin as the perpetually worried/confused friend. Wasn't so impressed with Weaver, the love interest never worked for me, although the shower scene "I'm talking to you - will you please turn round!" was an absolute hoot!
If I'm ever stranded on a desert island, with just a solar-powered DVD player for company, this is the film I would want to have. Wonderful!
