Review of Date Night (2010) by Chrissy H — 11 Apr 2012
Okay, wow, I was surprised how much I enjoyed this film. Like a lot of present comedies, it wasnâ(TM)t perfect, but it was more Tina Fey & Steve Carell as the couple, from the very beginning they were instantly an adorable double act and utilized each others strengths well, you were mostly interested in this film because of these two characters. They embodied the well known tiredness of long-married couples, who are desperate to keep the spark going, which drives their development.
One of the most enjoyable parts were the cameos. Mark Wahlberg appeared in several scenes as a Black Ops help for the couple, there was William Fichtner appearing as a District Attorney, Ray Liotta as a criminal. All three have some good moments, and add to the proceedings quite well. The best thing though, is that this is a great film to relax to, there is no need to pay attention for 90 minutes, you can just go along with it. An enjoyable breeze for the audience.
