Review of Date Night (2010) by Brett M — 06 Aug 2012
Date Night... I was really looking forward to this movie. Steve Carell is one of my favorite actors, and at the time, was great on The Office. I never watched 30 Rock, but I had heard that Tina Fey was really funny in that also. So... this was a match made in heaven. This should have been extremely funny... And even though I still laughed a lot, I was still a little disappointed, because I knew it could have been better. First of all, the plot is really, really strange... Especially for a comedy. I feel like the plot would have worked really well if it was approached more seriously... And by that I mean, not as a comedy. Steve Carell and Tina Fey were really funny in this movie, but they didn't have a lot to work with. I think that if some of the NBC writers would have written this script, it would have been a lot better. The supporting cast has some really great actors, but their performances aren't that memorible. Overall, this movie is slighly above average, but there is still some laughs and fun to be made.
