Review of Date Movie (2006) by Hardy K — 18 Nov 2009

I am not surprised that the top critics did not like this movie. It seems that Comedy and Parody is not on their list of crappy movies to push. I actually liked the Date Movie.

But, it wasn't that great.

Here is an overweight, unattractive girl, working for her fathers cafe. She does this little dance for the first 10 minutes of the movie that is pretty funny, as most men she sees are grossed out by her, up to one shooting himself in the head with a nailgun.

She meets a stranger and falls for him serving him coffee, and he seems to like her. but, she knocks him out with the coffee pot, and she thinks she has scared him away. So, she thinks she is not attractive enough to land a man. So she decides to go out and get help.

A parody of "Hitch" arrives, with a little man, who Pimps her out in a car garage. Which was very stupid! But, they turn her into a very nice looking girl. And, she goes out and finds the man she thought she was falling in love with.

After she gets pretty, the movie starts going off in a "Meet the Parents" direction, still pretty funny, but, starts to loose steam as it get closer to the end. They spoof everything from "The wedding Planner, My best friends wedding. wedding crashers, and there is even a little Jack Ass thrown in. Plus a little Kill bill, and what women want.

There are a lot of pretty funny moments in the movie, but, there are a few too many stupid jokes, including a way too long scene of a woman washing a car while eating a hamburger.

Very Pointless! And dumb!

But, like Meet the Spartans, It has it's moments.
