Review of Das Boot (1981) by Jørgen T — 09 Jul 2008
I liked it. It wasn't pro-Nazi as a World War II movie about a German U-Boat. If you can't see the inspirations for U-571, get your head straight.
Like most non-US films it wasn't loaded with explosions or all that Hollywood crap. It went for looking at the human element of a tin can under meters of seawater, capturing the tension of fearing death by pressure or depth charge.
While it did have its slow moments, it's definitely worth a look.
