Review of Das Boot (1981) by Ian W — 22 Dec 2008
For a movie that has almost exclusively one set, no visible enemies and action that's made by shaking a set and sound effects...god damn this movie grips you hard. It starts slow, but once it gets going, you can't peel your eyes away, and you're taken for a journey into the heart of madness with the crew.
Few war movies make such a powerful statement about war as Das Boot, and it really doesn't say a word, you can just feel it. Solid film making all around, excellent acting, see it (when you have the 3 and a half hours to devote to it).
