Review of Das Boot (1981) by Annukka P — 09 Jun 2009
Even though a long film (original uncut version is 293min!) it is a masterpiece. Shot in an actual U-boat, it is a claustrophobic psychological nightmare for the german crew. Not really an intense action film, like U571, more like an epic film-documentary, with the remarkable direction of Wolfgang Petersen (Air Force One, Troy, The Perfect Storm).
