Wolfgang "the guy who made Troy...WTF?" Petersen directs not only one of the truly great war films but a doubtless classic of German cinema. Acting, script, cinematography, visual effects, score, all virtually flawless.
This film makes U-571, K-19 et al look like the motion picture equivalent of Cranbourne. Now all we need is and english subtitled Blu-Ray and I'm fairly certain my life would be complete.
