Review of Das Boot (1981) by Scott M — 28 Oct 2011
I have never really liked submarine movies, mainly due to the fact that it is such a limited concept, not providing much in the way of setting, production design, or cinematography. Das Boot seems the same to me, and despite some interesting story ideas (and the successful humanization of German WW2 soldiers), I didn't feel like this film really went above and beyond those limitations.
