This would make it my Top 10 War movies any day, one of the best hands down. Beats any Hollywood submarine flick hands down, with it's authentic portrayal of life inside a U-Boat. The feeling of claustrophobia inside a submarine, the long hours of doing nothing, the chaos when a strike occurs, you actually feel yourself trapped in it.
Wolfgang Petersen never really hit it off in Hollywood, had couple of decent flicks( Air Force One, In the Line of Fire) that's it, but never really close to this.
