Incredible directing, acting, cinematography and editing add the this films haunting atmosphere, three and a half hours almost spent on one boat has never been so exciting, and Das Boot has one of the most haunting endings I've ever seen.
A different way to look at war, and it may be the best war film I've yet to see. A complete masterpiece.
