Review of Darkness Falls (2003) by Matt N — 12 Jan 2010
A story about Matilda dixon "The Tooth fairy" and how she gets the revenge. The movie has some shock elements but not frightening. What I found interesting was the narration at the begining of the movie. Acting was average at best. not many special effects. I think the movie could get or executed better than this. Horror movies do not get good treatment usually with the exception of few ones.
In the DVD there is a footage as documentary talking about Matilda Dixon's story in Australia and how she was treated. I found that one more interesting than the movie itself and the story itself would have made a dark dramatic story if ever filmed. It is shame that the writers and director of Darkness Falls had depended less on the true events in Matilda's life and made a horror movie of her story according to their imaginations while left out the true part of it.
This movie would have been really good if it was purely on the life of Matilda rather than a horror movie scaring people of her. Perhaps someone else would think to make a drama on Matilda Dixon in the future.
