Review of Darkness Falls (2003) by Matthew E — 09 Oct 2009
A great story and twist to a classic fairy tale.
Darkness Falls in my opinion is a very underrated horror film. The film offers a great backstory to a classic fairy tale of the tooth fairy. This movie won't make you scared of the tooth fairy but will give you something else to think about when the lights are off.
The background story of the tooth fairy alone can be a great horror movie. When I first saw this moive I thought the backstory was real since it was nicely made.
The tooth fairy creature is very creepy. Its a cross between a ghost, witch, and the creature from The Grudge. Next time you think you see a shadown in the hallway you'll be reminded of the tooth fairy creature. The creation of the creature was very well done.
The scares in the movie are a nice touch. The movie realizes on the creepiest of the creature and the fear of darkness. There were even some parts that made me jump.
Overall the movie is worth the watch for any horror film fan. I personally love the ending with the final showdown of the tooth fairy. This movie will make you think of what else could be hiding in the darkness when the lights go off.
