Review of Darkness (2009) by Stefan S — 16 May 2008
Out of doxens of movies, DARKNESS was one that I so desperately wanted to like.
Anna Paquin + Lena Olin together was just a dream come true.
However DARKNESS was just disapointing in more ways than one.
It more than simply a complex story, rather the storytelling itself is a complete mess which screws up it's chance of being a relatively good thriller/horror.
Then the characters themselves are beyond under-developed, and aren't worth saving.
While the ending's left extremely ambigious, it's still not enough to fully care, with how the story was driven, by the end of it, it seems nothing could bring the film back from its certain death.
