Review of Darkness (2002) by Zak G — 02 Jan 2005
Stay away from this piece of crap. I can see why Lions Gate was having a hard time on deciding whether to release it theatrically or straight to DVD. Unfortunately, they should have picked the latter.
The director, name escapes me, tries so hard to make this a stylish horror movie, I think he forgot about the script. There are so many plotholes and storylines that go nowhere or unexplained that I don't know where to begin.
Anna Paquin looks lost in this film and Lena Olin deserves better. Her character is the worst written character in the film. She's a better actress than this film shows and what the hell is Giancarlo Giannini doing in this film?
Anyway, a complete mess. Obviously a rookie was behind the camera.
Rating: D.
