Review of Darkman III: Die Darkman Die (1996) by Ttt C — 01 Feb 2010
By the time of Arnold Vosloo's second straight-to-video Darkman adventure the whole Darkman formula was starting to look tired - psychedelic montages, scientific experiments, wearing masks and posing as various bad guys - how much more can we really take? Nothing particularly new is introduced with the exception of Darkman developing feelings for his new enemy's wife and child and while it was neat to see Roxann Dawson outside of Star Trek: Voyager, even this subplot seems to come out of nowhere and as such is pretty hard to swallow.
Not even the villains can save it - Jeff Fahey does his best but his character is no Durant. Darkman III is certainly watchable, and you've gotta love that awesome subtitle, but it's a mediocre effort that plays it far too safe.
I'm not sure if they planned any more sequels but I wouldn't be surprised if they were shot down following this disappointment.
