I have tried to watch this movie so many times, most of which when it would be non-stop on HBO back in the day, but something always felt off about it.

Being older now, the biggest issue I have is the score so rips off Batman you'd think they were just trying to hope that would elevate the material.

Now, inventing new skin issue for whatever reasons is kind of cool, and it just so happens to perfectly fit for what would happen to the guy.

And while I know they said the pain would give him emotional rants, but they way they play out is just silly. Neeson is fine, but it's the script and character that maybe sounded fine on paper, but really stupid in the film when he starts crying and going on mental rants.

McDormand also just doesn't work. I never felt any chemistry between the two of them.

Some of the revenge stuff is great, and all the effects are still really good today, but the end sequence is a bit off, as Darkman is really just running around like a chicken with no head getting lucky fighting the bad guys. He never really becomes the great new Anti-hero they promise.

Since Raimi directed it, of course Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi show up at some point.
