Review of Darkest Hour (2017) by Stewart%20 W — 12 Jan 2018
Just came back from the cinema and I'm still buzzing!
A masterly film! Enough has been said about how good Oldman is but the supporting cast are also deserving of praise:
- Every scene with Kirsten Scott Thomas was poignant.
- Lily James is coming on in leaps and bounds as an actress.
- Ronald Pickup playing Chamberlin is surprisingly sympathetic.
- The surprise performance was Ben Mendelsohn as King George VI.
I think I prefer his portrayal than James Purefoy's in "The Crown" or Colin Firth's in "The King's Speech".
