Review of Darkest Hour (2017) by Tripp2Themovies — 02 Jan 2018
"Darkest Hour" would not be as good as it is without Gary Oldman's terrific performance as Winston Churchill. While the rest of the movie isn't bad by any means, Gary Oldman keeps us interested when the film fails to produce an interesting narrative.
Lily James is also in the film, but doesn't have anything interesting to do. The acting from her is never bad, but I would have liked to see what she could do with an interesting character. Another thing worth mentioning is the amazing cinematography in this film.
The director of photography is Bruno Delbonnel, who previously produced the cinematography in films like "Inside Llewyn Davis," so this guy is the real deal. The overall direction from Joe Wright is pretty good as well.
"Darkest Hour" was a great film, even though the script wasn't always interesting.
