A fantastic performance by Gary Oldman that allows the audience to feel the struggles and triumphs of the great Winston Churchill that even non-history buffs will enjoy. One feels the frustration of Churchill as he challenges those demanding for compromise, the triumph of victory that he demands through and through, and the helplessness he feels at times as it seems everyone is out to get him until a beam of hope emerges, and Churchill runs with that hope Oldman not only masters the character that is Winston Churchill but also allows the audience to feel every twist of his character.

However, without this fantastic performance, the average viewer may get bored with the movie.
