Review of Dark Victory (1939) by Igor V — 24 Nov 2008
It is definitely melodramatic. If it wasn't for this cast the movie could have bombed but Bette Davis lives her role and dominates the film in every scene. Geraldine Fitzgerald and George Brent provide great support.
Overall you cannot help but care for these characters and Judith especially. Of course you also cannot comprehend why a doctor would conceal true diagnosis from a patient - does anyone smell a lawsuit?.
