Review of Dark Victory (1939) by Nate W — 22 Aug 2010
"Dark Victory" is a tender, bittersweet tragedy about a young woman with an inoperable brain tumor, given less than a year to live. Bette Davis gives a graceful, refined performance as the unfortunate woman, and beautifully evokes the conflict of emotions that plague her character.
Other compelling turns come courtesy of George Brent and Humphrey Bogart, whose affections threaten to tear Davis' heart in two before she expires.
