Review of Dark Star (1974) by Dave C — 18 May 2008
This (John Carpenter's feature debut) is an hilarious and wonderful sci-fi comedy which affectionately derides the profound pomposity of "2001". Here space travel is mundane and boring and aliens are a nuisance and philosophical arguments with sentient bombs are something to be avoided.
.. Ground breaking in its small way, this paved the way for Carpenter's career and for the likes of "Alien" later in the 70s. Very good stuff.
