Review of Dark Star (1974) by Scott K — 18 Jan 2011
Mildly amusing spoof of 2001 that is interesting only because it was Carpenter's first film and co-written by the guy who would write Alien. There is an extended sequence of one of the astronauts chasing an alien that they've taken on board as a pet.
It is basically a beach ball with rubber claw gloves attached to it. This would be the germ of an idea that O'Bannon would explore with more of an eye toward horror in Alien.
