Review of Dark Skies (2013) by Cade H — 15 Mar 2015
Dark Skies was a genuinely creepy alien movie that relied a lot on scary camerawork and music without letting you ever see much of the actual creatures. It starts out a little slow, building the family up and slowly things start to happen, small at first and then they get worse and worse.
It reminded me of the Paranormal Activity series how each night something more intense happened until a final big conclusion. The atmosphere of the movie was kept pretty dark and tense and it was an interesting take on the typical alien myth.
The ending scene was set up to be huge, and it was. The final moments were very scary and done well. It was nice to finally be scared watching a horror movie again but there was still a lot left to be desired and it is an average horror film in my book.
