Review of Dark Skies (2013) by Patrick L — 06 Jun 2013
"Can we all know say that copying other movies is a crime".
DVD Movie Review: Dark Skies.
Date Viewed: June 6 2013.
Written and Directed by Scott Stewart (Legion and Priest).
Starring: Keri Russell, Josh Hamilton, Dakota Goyo, Kadan Rockett and J.K. Simmons.
"Dark Skies" is an unbelievably unscary science fiction movie full of cliches and one-dimensional characters. The whole movie is a mess and guess who wrote and directed this movie? Scott Stewart the guy who made the laughably awful Paul Bettany dud "Priest" two years ago.
The movie is set in a suburban neighborhood.
Where the people in this neighborhood never heard of the "Paranormal Activity" franchise. The movie follows a young family named the Barretts. The father in the story is Daniel (Josh Hamilton) who is both struggling to find a job and with the mortgage. Daniel has two kids and a wife named Lacy (Keri Russell) and they soon deal with supernatural forces responsible for strange events happening in their household.
The parents soon realize their little son Sam (Kadan Rockett) may have something to do with these supernatural forces. Why? Because the parents somewhat believe that their son's imaginary friend named The Sandman maybe the cause to these strange events. Soon Daniel and Lacy add security cameras to their house and I thought: "WOW! You dummies have never heard of the "Paranormal Activity" franchise!".
"Dark Skies" is boring, stupid and by the way it's not scary. The only thing I did like J.K. Simmons' performance as a ghost specialist but that's not a reason to go see this piece of junk.
