Review of Dark Shadows (2012) by Andrew S — 26 Mar 2015
Dark Shadows is another half-hearted Burton-Depp-Carter film that takes on a tone, an original piece, and re-vamps it with an over-used style that lacks any concrete joy. The actors seem drudging in their tasks, the humour feels forced, and the story has a strong cliche ring to it.
One of the redeemable features of this struggling escapade is Eva Green. With her sexy and powerful charm, she plays the perfect villain; the seductive and sly mistress. Dark Shadows is another example of Tim Burton's crumbling credibility as a must-see director, and testament to his sell-out process.
