I didn't expect it to be as incredibly weird as it is. Once I "got it", it became a movie worth watching. I wish I would have known that it was going to be somewhat "whimsical" before viewing, as I thought it was going to be dark and SERIOUS.
Dark? Yes. Serious? Nope! This is a soap opera, much like I have heard the original series is. Johnny Depp continues to be unimpressive and is always larger than the characters he plays. But this is still a movie worth watching!
