Review of Dark Shadows (2012) by Grant H — 15 Nov 2014
Another film in a long line of slumps still endured by Tim Burton. Evoking a still edgy & stylish film style that Burton that has charmed audiences for decades, the acting & storyline again weaken the overall overall to underwhelm moviegoers.
Perhaps this could be changed if Burton would choose projects that are original & new ideas, as he seems to have a penchant to fail when the underlying subject matter is linked to remaking, rebooting or abridging previous stories to the big screen (i.
E. Plane of the Apes, Willy Wonka, etc. - with the exception being the two Batman movies, respectively). I guess my new rule is to generally avoid these projects, as a certain expectation already being set for comparison to the other being a trap for this director.
More Edward Scissorhands & Ed Wood, less of his malarkey.
