Review of Dark Shadows (2012) by Justin G — 19 Jan 2015
This movie had ONE redeeming scene, and that's when Depp's character has sex with Eva Green's witch. I'll admit I laughed at that ONE scene. Oh, and the supposed main love interest (Bella Heathcote) is gorgeous.
However, for someone Depp's character is supposed to be madly in love with, she disappears for large chunks of the movie, particularly the climax. Every character here is just a cliche -- there is NOTHING original here, and nothing remotely funny.
It cant' decide on a tone either -- it switches between darkly funny (see the Depp/Green scene) or a dark drama, and the result is a confusing mess. There's also a bit of a twist with the daughter that comes right out of nowhere and isn't set up in the slightest.
Just an awful film.
