Review of Dark Passage (1947) by Martin T — 17 Aug 2009
Classic! Humphrey Bogart & Lauren Bacall have got to be the slickest, coolest film couple in history. The things those two could do with just their eyes! Very stylish cinematography, with plenty of suspense and anti-establishment social overtones.
I loved the Golden Gate bridge in B&W, the San Quentin jailbrake, the clandestine plastic surgery bit, Humphrey shacking up in Lauren's posh Moderne pad, and Agnes Moorehead's deliciously wicked performance.
"Why bother, people never believe you when you tell the truth!".
