Review of Dark Passage (1947) by James O — 10 Jul 2010
As a somewhat new fan of classic films, this is by far one of my favorites. I know that it isn't the best performance by Bogart, by far, but with the help of Bacall the film has enough sass and suspense and action to entirely enthrall the viewer.
I found that the first half was by far the best part of the film. For the first hour, the audience is treated to a first person camera angle, making them believe that they are the protagonist of the film.
This kind of daring and experimentation is lost in film nowadays. Definitely recommended for any fan of film noir, or of Humphrey Bogart, or anyone looking for a very enjoyable movie experience.
