Review of Dark Harbor (1999) by Jacqueline S — 09 Jun 2010
This movie works on a far more subtle level than most thrillers/dramas we usually see in North America. Rather than being full of action and/or suspense, it actually assumes the audience has a brain and fully intends to use it.
The intricacies can't fully be appreciated until you watch it a second time through since, after the ending, the entire movie changes.
Rickman is brilliant, as always and Reedus is both adorable and mysterious and you can't help but be drawn to his character.
The true depth of the thriller doesn't fully hit you until after you've reached the credits, turned it off, and let it percolate for a bit.
Not in any stretch of the imagination an amazing movie, but definitely something different.
