Review of Dark Days (2012) by Paul Z — 01 Mar 2009
I found myself really captivated and involved in the lives of these homeless people in Dark Days. I think the black and white it was shot in really helped to emphasize the 'Dark Days' motif. What I didn't like about Dark Days was that as interesting and heart-wrenching it was to watch these people dig through garbage, trying to salvage anything they possibly sell, it didn't provide the audience with a 'why should I care,' at least until two third of the way through the film.
Also Dark Days didn't provide any answer or proposed solutions to how to help fix the homeless problem in NYC. I think that if it would have done that it would have been a much better documentary.
