Review of Dark City (1998) by Marlon W — 26 Nov 2010
Superbly crafted, genre-defying film that is equal parts mystery, film noir, horror & fantasy. While much of the mystery is revealed too early (though the director's cut released on Blu-Ray corrects that), the art direction & Alex Proyas storytelling make for one of the most unique films in recent memory, and one in which the mystery actually pays off to a satisfying conclusion.
One two of the main characters break through a brick wall to finally see on the other side, the reveal is a moment most sci-fi/fantasy only wish to have. A must see.
