Review of Dark City (1998) by Allan C — 09 Jul 2011
A film noir with a sci-fi backdrop. Interesting in theory. The acting was well done - especially by William Hurt - and the bleakness of the situation comes through extremely well. The storyline is a bit thin and uninvolving, and the special effects are very underplayed. The movie tries to be philosophical and deep but ends up as pretentious and somewhat boring. Worth watching but not the great piece of art it hopes to be.
