Review of Dark City (1950) by Timothy J — 23 Aug 2011
Dark City begins when John Murdoch wakes up to the scene of a murder. However, Murdoch neither remembers how the murder occurred or anything at all. Murdoch goes on search for answers as he uncovers the city's sinister secrets as well as discover who he really is.
Dark City's story is very creative and philosophical as you would expect from this type of film. The overall design of the costumes and architecture is visually spectacular. The city itself is almost a character much like Gotham City is a character of its own in Tim Burton's Batman. On top of that, the film features great performances by William Hurt, Rufus Sewell, Jennifer Connelly and Keifer Sutherland. Add the variables all together and you have a fantastic film that will leave you with a sense of wonder.
