If there's one good thing I can say about Dark City, it's that it has some of the best visual effects I've ever seen. The editing is phenomemal, the direction is stunning, and the film as a whole is just decidedly well-made. It's just an absolute pleasure to watch.
Problem is that the story is only so-so and the final twenty minutes are just completely outrageous. I didn't find any interest in any of it at all.
I like Dark City. I think it's a good film. But there's just too many problems towards the ending. It all unravels in the most absurd way.
