Review of Dark City (1950) by Edward K — 22 Sep 2012
Brilliant concept from an SF perspective but goes astray as a result of being overlong and grasping for themes that exceed its natural content. The filmâ??s story is overwhelmed by the computer graphics which diverts the viewerâ??s attention and gives a false impression that something worthwhile is being watched.
It might impress the urban coffee shop philosopher set and the special features seem to cater to this wherein various film critics attempt to raise the film to the level of a post-modern philosophical genre.
However, they their endeavors are betrayed with vague land meaningless linguistic symbolism that fails to gain traction with the average listener. The result is a well animated but overblown SF short story.
